Virginie Mécène

Principal Dancer

VIRGINIE MÉCÈNE former Principal Dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, joined BDT in 1994, originating roles in Ms.Buglisi's Requiem and Suspended Women. She was appointed Artistic Director of Graham II and Director of the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in 2007. She served as a Lecturer at Barnard College and teaches at the Martha Graham School, guest teacher at the Ailey School, and abroad. She has set Graham's works on Universities and companies including Harvard Ballet Company, Les Ballets de Lorraine, Temple University and others. She taught and choreographed for Opera-Theatre de Metz, France, Joffrey Midwest Workshop, Graham II and others. She also serves as the President of The Emergency Fund for Student Dancers, EFSD.
