Arts in Education
Taught by members of the Company, Buglisi Dance education programs are designed to engage the imagination while stimulating the development of creative problem solving and cognitive skills, teamwork, self-discovery and curiosity. All Buglisi Dance Theatre curricula align with the NYC Department of Education’s Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts as well as state, national arts standards and Common Core Learning Standards. Arts in education programs can be tailored to fit the specific needs of each school or organization served. Buglisi Dance Theatre holds a DoE Vendor License to teach in NYC public schools.

Overview
In-school arts-centered activities encourage students to discover their own voice through the exploration of space, rhythm and movement in a safe and collaborative learning environment. Sessions can range from 45 to 90 minutes, beginner to advanced level.
College-level residencies that offer semi-professional dancers a broader physical and dramatic vocabulary while exploring the depths of human emotion from tenderness to fury. Geared for mature, passionate movers with a fearless abandon for self-expression.
Rain – an expression of the primitive rhythms, colors, breath and nature found in the rainforest. Satisfies exploration of environmental issues through Dance, Music and Science related concepts.
Love Letters – explores the joy, human complexity and wistful longing that occur through writing a love letter. Themes of immigration, war and cultural identity can be explored through Social Studies, Literacy and English Language Arts concepts.
Carvaggio Meets Hopper – A study in contrasts, student choreography is created through exploration of human relationships that reveal the bold visceral strength, humor and exquisite vulnerabilities of ordinary men and women while introducing visual artists Carvaggio and Edward Hopper. This residency addresses themes of relationship and communication while addressing Literacy and Visual Arts concepts.

Overview
One hour to 90-minute classes available for all ages, levels and ability. Contemporary Graham-based technique conceived to teach young students that dance is a physical language.
Designed for the advanced dancer, the Repertory Workshop is facilitated by Buglisi Company dancers providing a warm-up followed by 90 minutes of select choreography from Company repertory.
